Continue reading this post to learn other reasons why your Telstra Prepaid activation process is not working and the steps you can take to fix the issue.

Why Your Telstra Pre-Paid Activation Not Working

a. Incorrect Activation Process

The Telstra prepaid activation process is easy and quite straightforward. If you miss any of the steps in the process, your activation won’t go through.

So, the reason your activation is not working maybe that you didn’t follow the activation instructions. Or that you missed a step in the activation process.

b. Poor Network Signal

The Telstra network signal needs to be strong or at least stable in your location to complete the activation process. If the network signal in your location is poor, or there is no signal at all in the location, your SIM card activation won’t go through.

c. Phone Locked To Another Network

If you are bringing your phone to the Telstra network, the phone must meet the compatibility requirement. One such requirement is that your phone must be unlocked. You can’t activate the Telstra Prepaid SIM card in your phone if it is locked to another network.

Also, there are other requirements your phone must meet to be compatible for use on the Telstra network. That is why you need to check your phone for compatibility before you start the SIM card activation process on the phone.

d. Transfer Process Still In Progress

Telstra allows you to transfer your number from another network and keep your number. If you are transferring your number from another network, it may be that the number transfer process is still in progress.

You can only activate your Telstra SIM card after the transfer process is complete.

Quick Tips To Fix The Telstra Activation Problem

a. Check For Network Signal

First, you need to check for Telstra coverage and signal in your location. To do this, open the Telstra Coverage Page. Enter your ‘Address’ or ‘Location’ in the search box and click on ‘Search’.

It will show details of outdoor and indoor coverage in your location. Once you’ve confirmed that it is not a network signal issue, proceed to try the other steps below.

b. Check Phone Compatibility

I mentioned earlier that your phone has to be compatible with Telstra’s phone requirements to work on its network. For your phone to work on the Telstra network, it has to meet the following banding requirements:

. 3.5GHz banding for 5G

. 1800MHz and 700MHz banding for 4G

. 850MHz banding for 3G

Check the device manual for the specifications to confirm that your device meets the banding requirements.

c. Ensure the Phone Is Unlocked

In addition to meeting the compatibility requirement, your phone has to be unlocked to work on the Telstra network. If the phone is locked to any carrier, contact the carrier to unlock the phone.

You may need to pay off any outstanding payment remaining on the device to be eligible to unlock the phone.

d. Confirm Activation Details

As we mentioned earlier, one of the reasons your prepaid activation is not working could be because of the wrong details. Go through the details you entered on the information page and confirmation they are correct.

Check the SIM serial number and make sure the number is correct. Also, confirm that the ID you submitted is valid and the name on the ID matches the name on the account.

Also, check your address format. It should be ‘Address> Location” and not the other way around.

e. Complete Transfer Process

If you are transferring your number from another network, there are several things to do. First, check the details you submitted to Telstra to be sure they match the information with your previous carrier. Submitting inaccurate details can stall the transfer process.

After that, you have to wait it out. The transfer process can take 4 to 24 hours to complete. Remain to keep your service with your previous carrier active until the transfer is complete.

f. Update Phone Firmware

The next step is to update the firmware on the phone. Firmware is the software that powers most functionality on a device. For a phone, that also includes network connectivity.

You have to check if there is a new firmware version on the phone. Download and install the new updated version. Follow the steps below to complete the process:

. Connect the phone to a Wi-Fi network.

. Press the ‘Settings’ icon on the phone and scroll down to ‘About Phone’.

. You will see ‘Update’ if there is a new firmware version available.

. Tap on ‘Update’ and ‘Install System Software’

. Wait a few minutes for the download to complete, and restart the phone.

g. Clear Phone Cache

Another tip to try is to clear the cache in the phone. Clearing cache is a troubleshooting process that helps to fix glitches and enhance the performance of any device. Follow the steps below to clear the cache in your device:

. Turn off your phone.

. Press and hold down the ‘Volume Down’ and ‘Power’ buttons together.

. Continue holding down the volume button and release the power button when you see the device logo.

. Scroll down the ‘Android System Recovery’ page and select the ‘Wipe Cache Partition’ option.

. Select ‘Reboot System Now’ to restart the phone.

h. Contact Telstra Customer Support

If none of the options above worked, it’s time to contact Telstra tech support. Visit the Telstra Contact us page to chat with a support person. The support person will guide you through other steps you can take to resolve the activation issue.
