If the signal bar on your phone is showing no bar or an exclamation mark on your Google Fi network, it means there’s no service on your device.
The signal bar on your device is an indication of the strength of the cellular network signal your device is receiving. There should be at least two signal bars to show that the network signal is stable.
If there is no signal bar, it means your phone is not connecting to the cellular network.
Several reasons can cause your Google Fi to disconnect from the network. The common reason is if you are outside the Google Fi network coverage area.
This post outlines other reasons you are experiencing the Google Fi No Service issue on your device. The latter part of the post outlines some of the tips you can apply to solve the issue.

Why Does My Google Fi Network Say No Service?
a. Coverage Issue
If your Google FI network is showing no network, the first thing to check is the Google FI network coverage in your location. Your phone or device won’t connect to the network if there is no Google Fi network in your location.
Continue reading to find out how to check if there is a Google Fi network in your location. But likely, it may not be a coverage issue because Google Fi has strong nationwide coverage.
Also, you can be within the coverage area but your location is interfering with network signals. For instance, if you are in a building with thick walls or an underground setting, these can block network signals.
b. Temporary Downtime
The issue could be a temporary downtime problem. If you’ve always had a Google Fi network and the network signals suddenly disappear, it could be a downtime issue.
You can visit the Google Fi social media official handle to check for downtime updates. If it is a downtime issue, there is nothing much you can do than wait for Google Fi to resolve the issue.
c. Airplane Mode On
Also, it could be that the airplane mode feature on your phone has been activated. When on airplane or flight mode, your phone can’t connect to Google Fi’s network.
That means when on airplane mode, you can send or receive texts, but neither can you make or receive calls. But you can connect your phone to your home network and access the internet.
d. Glitch On Phone
If you have not cleared the cache on your phone in a while or you have many apps running in the background, it can affect your phone’s network.
Thankfully, this can be fixed by performing a power cycle on your device. The power cycle process will be explained in detail in the latter part of this post.
e. Issue With SIM Card Placement
The issue could be from your SIM card. It might be an issue with the SIM card placement. Also, it could be that the phone is not compatible with the Google Fi network. Dirt and grime on the SIM card can affect its functionality too.
f. Outdated Firmware Software
The firmware powers the hardware part of your device. Updated versions of the software are released from time to time. These updated versions come with better features and security.
Failure to update your phone or device’s firmware can affect the network connectivity.
How To Fix The Google Fi No Service Issue
a. Perform A Power Cycle
The first thing to do is to perform a power cycle on your device. The power cycle process helps to clear cache and fix minor glitches on your phone.
Before you perform a power cycle, first activate the flight mode on your device. Wait for 30 seconds and deactivate the airplane mode. This alone can fix the issue.
If the process doesn’t work, then you can perform the power cycle process. Switch off your phone, wait for 30 seconds, and switch on your phone.
b. Turn Off Airplane Mode
Also, check if the airplane mode is activated on your device and turn off the feature. If your phone is in airplane mode, you will see an airplane icon on your signal bar or in the menu bar. Follow the process to remove your phone in airplane mode.
. Go to Settings and scroll down to Wireless & Networks
. Select More. If the airplane mode is currently ON, tap the options to switch to the OFF position.
c. Check For Network Coverage
Open the Google Fi network coverage map. This is a map that shows all the locations with Google Fi network coverage. Enter your Zip Code or Address in the search bar to search. You will see a confirmation if there is Google Fi coverage in your location.
d. Change Location
As we mentioned earlier, your location can affect network signal strength. For instance, if you are inside a building with very thick walls, the network signal may be poor or non-existence inside the building.
Change to another location. You can move from one room to another room. Or you can leave the building and check if your device will get a network signal.
f. Check SIM Card Placement
Remove the SIM card tray on your phone and check the placement. It could be that the SIM card shifted at one point when your phone fell on a hard surface.
While your SIM card is out, check for dirt and grime on the SIM card and SIM tray. Clean the SIM card with a small clean cloth.
Check this video below on the current way to insert a SIM card into your device.
g. Update Firmware Software
Check for and download the recent firmware version on your device.
. To do this, connect your phone to a Wireless Network.
. Open Settings>About Phone> Check For Updates> Install Updates.
. Wait for your device to download and install the new update.
. After that, restart your phone to complete the process.
h. Contact Google Fi Customer Support
If none of the steps have worked so far, it’s time to contact Google Fi’s tech support team. The support team will work you through the process of fixing the issue. Contact Google Fi’s support team at 844-825-5234.
