Activating eSIM on the Consumer Cellular network is easy for both new and existing customers. The process is almost similar to that of activating a physical SIM card on the network.
There are two steps to activating Consumer Cellular eSIM. First, you buy and activate the eSIM online. After that, you install and activate the eSIM on your device.
If you purchase an eSIM-enabled phone from Consumer Cellular, the network installs the eSIM for you. All you have to do is activate the eSIM on the phone.

What Devices Does Consumer Cellular Support On ESIM?
Consumer Cellular supports eSIM on just iPhones. It’s not all iPhone though. The network supports eSIM on the following devices below:
. iPhone XS/ XS Max/ XR (series))
. iPhone SE (series)
.iPhone 11 (series)
. iPhone 12 (series)
. iPhone 13 (series)
. iPhone 14 (series)
How To Get Consumer Cellular ESIM Online?
If you buy an eSIM-supported device from Consumer Cellular, you don’t need to do this part. The network pre-assigns an eSIM to your device. Just skip below to activate eSIM on the phone.
On the other hand, if you are bringing your phone to the network, you have to purchase the eSIM online. Follow the process below to complete the process:
. First, get your phone’s IMEI number. The IMEI number is the 15-digit code that is unique to your device. To find the number, dial *#06# on your device. You will find the number on display on your screen.
. Visit the Consumer Cellular eSIM purchase page.
. Enter the IMEI number in the given space.
. Click on Verify & Add To Cart to complete the process.
. You will receive a confirmation message in your email. The confirmation email will also contain a guide on how to activate the eSIM.
Getting Ready To Activate ESIM On Consumer Cellular?
Before you start the eSIM download and installation process on your device, there are some things to put in place. These will make the process and avoid a glitch or error.
a. Wireless Internet
You need an internet connection to complete the eSIM download and activation process. For this process, you can’t use your phone’s mobile data until you activate the eSIM. So, you need to connect the phone to wireless internet.
The network doesn’t necessarily have to be a high-speed internet. It has to be stable enough to complete the download and activation process.
b. Update Phone Software
This is the software that controls most of the phone functions. New versions are released from time to time. Ensure that the version on your phone is the latest. If not, download and install the latest version by following the steps below:
c. Connect the device to a wireless network.
. Go to Settings and scroll down to General.
. Tap on Software Update.
. Tap on Download and Install.
. Enter your Passcode and tap on Install Now to start the process.
d. Payment Option
You will need to select and pay for a plan during the activation process. You need a payment option. Credit/ Debit card is the common option available.
How To Activate ESIM On Consumer Cellular?
There are two ways to activate the eSIM on the Consumer Cellular network. The first option is via the QR code, and the second option is via manual input.
Method 1: Consumer Cellular ESIM Activation (QR Code)
For Consumer Cellular phones, turn on the phone; connect the phone to a wireless network. Tap on the on-screen notification and follow the instructions to install the eSIM.
If you are bringing your phone to the network, follow the steps below to complete the activation process.
. Connect the device you want to activate to wireless internet.
. Check the phone kit for the QR code if you purchased your phone from Consumer Cellular. Or, check the confirmation email the network sent you if you purchased the eSIM online for the QR code.
. Tap on the Settings icon.
. Scroll down the settings options and tap on Cellular and Set Up Cellular.
. Tap on Use QR Code.
. Hold your phone directly on top of the QR Code to scan the code.
. Tap on the Cellular Plan Detected on-screen notification and Continue.
. Select a Cellular Plan to add to your account.
. Complete the checkout and Confirm to complete the activation process.
Method 2: Consumer Cellular ESIM Activation (Manual Input)
The option doesn’t require an internet to complete. You input the codes manually.
. Check the Phone kit, or welcome email for the SM-DP+ Address. If you can’t find it, contact Consumer Cellular support at 888-345-5509 to get the address.
. . Tap on the Settings Icon and scroll down to Cellular.
. Select Add Cellular Plan and further select Enter Details Manually.
. In the SM-DP+ Address option, enter the address you got earlier.
. Leave the other options blank. Those are the Activation Code and Confirmation Code options.
. Select Next and follow the prompts to complete the process.
