The Bush TV remote control comes preprogrammed to the TV. All you need to do is to insert two AAA batteries and start using the remote. If your Bush remote control stops, no need to panic yet. There are steps you can take to get your remote working
In a nutshell, if your Bush TV remote control stops working, it’s most likely a battery issue. The batteries in the remote compartment are bad. You can resolve the issue by replacing the old batteries with a new pair.
There are other issues besides the battery issue that can cause your remote to stop working. Continue reading to learn other reasons why your Bush TV remote is not working and ways to resolve the issue.
Why Is My Bush TV Not Responding To My Remote
a. Issue With TV Cable
While you may be assuming the issue is from your remote control, it could be from your TV. The TV power cord may be loose or not plugged in correctly. Turn on your TV with the power button on the side or in front of your TV. If it works, then the TV is not the issue.
b. Battery Issue
As mentioned earlier, it can be a battery issue. First, it may be an issue with the battery placement. Secondly, the batteries may be bad. One way to know the batteries are bad is to check for wet patches on the batteries.
c. Distance From TV
Also, it could be that you are holding the remote control far away from the TV. The Bush TV remote is an infrared-powered remote control. Thus, the remote control won’t work if you take it farther away from the TV.
d. Remote Not Programmed To TV
The original remote control that comes with the Bush TV comes preprogrammed. If you switch to a universal remote control or you factory reset your TV; that removes the programming.
e. Infrared Blockers
Some devices or objects serve as infrared blockers. They interfere with infrared signal transmission. Your Bush remote won’t work if there are infrared blockers nearby.
Quick Tips To Fix An Unresponsive Bush TV Remote
a. Check Battery Placement
Remove the batteries from the compartment and check for wetness. Wetness is a sign of damage. Some batteries can be low or damaged without showing the wet patch.
Try using the same battery pair on another device, if it works, it means that the battery is still good. If not, you need to replace the batteries.
After you remove the batteries, wait for 60 seconds before replacing them. When inserting the batteries, make sure you place them to sync with the (-/+) polarity.
b. Move Remote Close To TV
There are a couple of things you need to know about an infrared remote control. First, the remote control has to be in the line of sight of the device to work. Secondly, the remote has to be held close to the device, at most, 10 meters or 30 feet from the device.
Make sure there are no objects between the remote control and your TV or device. Secondly, always keep the remote not farther than 10 meters away from your device.
c. Check TV Cords
Check the power cord that connects your TV to an electric outlet, and make sure the cable is connected. Turn on the TV, if it works, it means the TV is receiving power. If not, connect the TV to another electrical outlet to see if it works.
d. Remove Infrared Blockers
There are two steps to take here. First, you have to confirm that the IR emitter on your remote is working. Next, you check for infrared blockers.
To check if the IR emitter is working, launch the camera app on your phone> Hold the camera directly close to the remote IR transmitter> press any button on the remote> the camera viewfinder should blink.
The second thing to do is to check for remote IR blockers. That includes aluminum foil, glass, wood, brick, Plexiglas, paper, and similar objects.
e. Reprogram Remote To TV
If you performed a factory reset on your Bush TV, you need to reprogram your remote to work. Follow the steps below to reprogram your remote to your TV:
Program Old Bush Remote To TV
. Hold your remote control close to your Bush TV.
. Press and hold the Home and TV buttons simultaneously.
. Release the buttons when the Home button flashes twice.
. Enter the Bush remote codes. The button light will flash twice when you get the correct code. If not, try the next code.
. Press the TV Button if your TV turns off, it means you have successfully programmed the remote to your TV. If not, repeat the process starting from step three.
Program Bush Remote To Fire TV
. Press the Power Button and allow the TV screen to load.
. Press and hold the Home Button until the tiny LED light starts to blink. This is an indication that you’ve paired the Bush remote to your TV.
f. Use Alternative Remotes
There are several alternatives to the Bush TV remote control. You can use the Bush TV remote app. The remote app serves as a smart remote control. Download and install the app from your app store. Sync the app to your TV to get it working.
The second option is to use a universal remote control. Program the universal remote control to your Bush TV using the Bush remote codes.
