If you know you won’t meet up with paying your current DirecTV bill before the due date, there are options available to you. First, you can apply for a payment extension if you qualify for it.
Another option is to schedule a payment extension. It is also known as the ‘DirecTV Promise to Pay’. With these options, you continue to enjoy DirecTV services past your bill due date without interruption.
This post takes you through all you need to know about scheduling a payment arrangement on DirecTV. Also, you will understand how the payment extension works and how to request an extension.
How Does DirecTV Payment Arrangement Work?
The DirecTV payment arrangement allows you to schedule a payment for a future date that is past your bill’s due date. This way, you can continue to enjoy your service without interruption.
Also, the payment arrangement helps you save money. When you schedule one, your service won’t be interrupted. This way, you will save money on late payment fees and reconnection fees, which costs $6.50 and $20 respectively.
Also, the network has to approve your extension or payment arrangement schedule and it may take up to 24 hours to approve your request. So, it is best to schedule either of them days ahead of your bill due date.
Who Is Eligible For DirecTV Payment Arrangement?
To be eligible for the DirecTV payment arrangement, you must be a customer with an active account. Also, your account must be in good standing in the network. This means that you’ve been constantly paying your bills before the due.
One quick way to confirm if you qualify for the payment arrangement is to check your account. If the option is not available in your account, that means that you don’t qualify for it.

How To Setup DirecTV Payment Arrangement
There are two ways to go about this. You can either set up a promise to pay directly on your DirecTV account or a payment arrangement on your ATT account.
Setup DirecTV Promise To Pay
. Visit the DirecTV account page.
. Enter your User ID and Password to sign into your account.
. Under the Current Balance click on Need More Time To Pay.
. Select Promise to Pay.
. Fill in the information on the page to schedule. That includes the expected payment amount, date, and payment method.
. You will receive a confirmation after your request is approved. It may take up to 24 hours to receive this confirmation.
Setup DirecTV Payment Arrangement On AT&T Account.
DirecTV is a subsidiary of AT&T. You can schedule a payment arrangement directly on your AT&T account for your DirecTV subscription. Follow the steps below to complete the process:
. Visit the AT&T Account Page.
. Enter your User ID and Password to sign into your account.
. Click on Make A Payment Arrangement under your outstanding bill balance.
. Check for the payment arrangement option after the myat&t calendar due date.
. Enter your payment details. That is the expected payment amount, date, and payment method.
. Click on Continue, confirm your payment information, and submit.
. You will receive a confirmation after it’s been approved.
How To Setup DirecTV Payment Extension
This is similar to the payment arrangement option. For the payment extension, you are opting to pay your bill within five days of your bill’s due date. DirecTV gives you 5 days after the bill due date to pay your current bill.
Follow the steps below to schedule a payment arrangement:
. Visit the DirecTV account page.
. Enter your User ID and Password to sign into your account.
. Under the Current Balance click on Need More Time To Pay.
. Select Request a Service Interruption Extension.
. Fill in the information on the page to schedule. That includes the expected payment date and payment method.
. You will receive a confirmation after your request is approved. It may take up to 24 hours to receive this confirmation.
Note that, once you see the Promise to Pay option instead, it means that you are not eligible for the payment extension.
DirecTV Payment Arrangement VS Payment Extension
The payment arrangement and extension are similar, but they have their differences. They are similar in that the options allow you to pay your bill after the bill’s due date.
The main difference between the two options is payment arrangement; you can break down the amount you pay for each date you schedule. That means you are allowed to pay the bill in bits. For the payment extension, you are to clear the entire bill on the new date.
Also, you can’t qualify for both at the same time. Most times, when you qualify for the payment arrangement, it means that you are not eligible for the payment extension.
Does DirecTV Charge For Payment Arrangements?
According to the information on the DirecTV site, the network MAY charge you a late payment fee even if you schedule the payment arrangement. But most people I know that have scheduled a payment arrangement ended up not paying the late fee.
Similarly, the network doesn’t charge when you request a payment extension. But, you have to apply for it at least 24 hours before the bill’s due date.
Can You Extend DirecTV Payment Arrangements?
No. Once you schedule a payment arrangement, you are expected to pay on the new scheduled date(s). That is why you need to be sure of the new dates you schedule for your payments.
What Happens If You Miss Paying After Setting Up Payment Arrangements?
It is advisable not to miss the new payment dates because it will cost you. If you miss making payment on the scheduled dates, DirecTV will interrupt or cut your service.
You will pay a late fee and a reconnection fee to access the service. Both fees can cost you almost $30.
