As an Xfinity Mobile customer, you can activate the eSIM on your device. The catch is that your device has to be eSIM compatible to complete the process.
The steps to activate the eSIM on the Xfinity network are quite easy for both new and existing customers. For existing customers, you simply need to transfer or convert your physical SIM card to an eSIM.
In summary, to activate the Xfinity eSIM on your device, simply visit the activation page on a separate device. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
This post will guide you through the process of activating the eSIM on your device as a new customer. If you are an existing customer, you will learn how to transfer your physical SIM to eSIM in the later part of the post.
Preparing Your Device For eSIM Activation On Xfinity Mobile
Before you start the activation process, these are some things you need to do to make the actual process seamless:
a. Have Wireless Internet
The eSIM activation process is done online. You can’t use your mobile data for the process. Rather, you need to connect your phone to a wireless internet connection during the eSIM activation process. Have a stable Wi-Fi internet handy to complete the process.
b. Check Device Compatibility
If you are bringing your device to the network, you need to make sure the device has features to support eSIM. Check the phone manual or search for the phone’s specifications online to see if it supports eSIM.
For now, Xfinity Mobile supports eSIM on just iPhone or newer versions.
c. Update Phone Software
Finally, before you install eSIM on your device, you need to make sure the software version on the phone is the latest. Check below for how to update the software on both Android and iPhone:
Update Software Version On iPhone
. Connect the device to a wireless network.
. Go to Settings and scroll down to General.
. Tap on Software Update.
. Tap on Download and Install.
. Enter your Passcode and tap on Install Now to start the process.
Update Software Version On Android
. Connect the device to a wireless network.
. Go to Settings and scroll down to About Phone.
. Tap on Update (Software Update).
. Select Install Now. On some devices, it will show as Reboot and Install.
. Wait for the installation process to complete and restart your phone.
How To Activate eSIM On Xfinity Mobile Network
The process of activating the eSIM on the Xfinity Mobile network is divided into two sections. The first section is where you purchase and activate the eSIM online. The second section is when you install the eSIM on your device. Here is the step-to-step guide on the entire process:
Activate Xfinity eSIM Online
. Visit the Activation Page preferably on another device than the one with the eSIM.
. Enter your Account Details to log into your account. If you are a new customer, Sign Up for a new account.
. Select the device you want to activate.
. Select from these options Keep Your Existing Number or I Want A New Number. Choose the former if you want to transfer your number from another carrier. Remember to have your account details and transfer PIN from the previous carrier handy. If you are activating as a new customer, choose the latter option.
. Click on Activate to start the activation process. The activation process may take 10 minutes. But in rare cases, the process may take up to an hour to complete. So, wait patiently for it.
. You will receive a confirmation email when the activation process is complete. You will receive your new phone number and other account details.
