As an existing T-Mobile customer, you have to contact customer support to complete any activation process for you.

Request to activate the new SIM card and transfer your existing number to the new SIM card.
Note that, you have to complete this step before you insert the new T-Mobile SIM card into the new phone.
After that, turn off the new phone, insert the SIM card in the phone, and turn on the device. The new device will start working within a couple of seconds. Note that the old SIM card will stop working once the new SIM becomes active on your new device.
