A couple of days ago, I overheard someone talk about the Red Pocket Free plan. So, I decided to research further on the plan and even contacted Red Pocket customer support to get more information. So, this post will explain all I’ve learned about the free plan.
In a nutshell, Red Pocket offers a free plan to customers that qualify. If you qualify for the free plan, you will get unlimited minutes, and texts. In addition, you will receive mobile data to access the internet.

How Does Red Pocket Free Plan Work?
As mentioned, Red Pocket has a free plan for customers that qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). In other words, this plan is not available to all Red Pocket customers.
Also, Red Pocket does not automatically give you this plan even if you qualify. You have to apply for and get approval to enjoy the free plan.
Once the network approves you for the plan, you get access to free phone services each month. That includes minutes, texts, and even mobile data.
Who Qualifies For The Red Pocket Free Plan?
The free plan is not available to all customers, but eligible customers. According to the information on the Red Pocket site, to qualify for the free plan, you have to qualify for or receive either of these government assistance programs:
. Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
. Medicaid.
. Federal Pell Grant.
. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP Benefits).
Understand The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP)
One of the main criteria to qualify for the free plan is to be a recipient of the ACP program. Let’s explain the program to those that are yet to understand how the program works and who qualifies.
The ACP program is a government assistance program created by the US Congress to help low-income families. The program helps low-income families get access to affordable telecom and internet services, health care, school, and work.
To qualify for the program, your family must meet at least one of the criteria below:
. Family annual income is at least or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines of the state.
. Be a participant in a Tribal Specific Program such as the Tribal TANF.
. Be a participant in any of the government assistance programs such as Medicaid, Lifeline, or SNAP.
. Received a Federal Pell Grant during the current year’s award.
. Approved and receives benefits from the free school breakfast program or the free and reduced-price school lunch program.
. Meet Red Pocket’s criteria for participating in the network’s free plan.
How To Apply For A Red Pocket Free Plan?
If you meet the criteria to qualify for the free plan, your next step is to apply for the plan. Follow the steps below to apply:
a. Submit Your Application
To Apply, click on the application link. Enter your ZIP Code and Email Address to check if you qualify. The application page will open. Fill in all the details on the page.
That includes your details like your full name/ email/ last 4 digits of your SSN/ Government ID number/ Contact number/ Date of Birth.
Also, if you are an existing customer you have the option to choose to use your current number as the new SIM card for the free plan. In addition, you can have the network send you an activated SIM card.
After you fill out the form, click on Continue. On the new page, follow the onscreen instructions to continue your application. Finally, select a plan, preview the information you entered, and submit your application.
b. Wait For Approval
After you submit your application, the network will either approve or reject your application. You will receive feedback in 48 hours to know if your application was approved or rejected.
c. Receive Kit
If the network approves your application, you will receive a SIM Card kit at your address. If you opted to receive a pre-activated SIM card, simply insert the SIM card into your phone to enjoy the free plan.
If not, complete the SIM card activation process to get the SIM card active to connect to the network.
What Does Red Pocket Free Plan Offer?
If you qualify for the Red Pocket free plan, you get to enjoy the following benefits for free:
$0.0 and a $1 monthly regulatory fee, you get unlimited talk time, unlimited text, and unlimited high-speed (4G and 5G) mobile data. But the mobile data will be throttled after you’ve used the 10GB for the month.
Also, you get free monthly credits for international calls to over 80 countries that qualify and $10 to call destinations.
Red Pocket Low Income Plan
In addition to the free plan, Red Pocket has an affordable plan for low-income families. Below is the breakdown of the plan and services you get for each plan:
Red Pocket $10 Per Month Plan (Plus $1 Regulatory Recovery Fee)
With this plan, you get unlimited talk time, unlimited text, and unlimited high-speed (4G and 5G) mobile data. But the mobile data will be throttled after you’ve used the 25GB for the month.
Also, you get free monthly credits for international calls to over 80 countries that qualify and $10 to call destinations.
Red Pocket $20 Per Month Plan (Plus $1 Regulatory Recovery Fee)
With this plan, you get unlimited talk time, unlimited text, and unlimited high-speed (4G and 5G) mobile data. But the mobile data will be throttled after you’ve used the 50GB for the month.
Also, you get free monthly credits for international calls to over 80 countries that qualify and $10 to call destinations.
Does Red Pocket Free Plan Give Free Phone?
No. The Red Pocket free plan doesn’t give you a free phone. You will only receive a free SIM card kit shipped to your address after the network approves your application.
